Termpool Review
TERMPOL Review: Lessons Learned Report Marine Projects, Transport Canada
Throughout each project life cycle, lessons are learned and opportunities for improvement are discovered. As part of a continuous improvement process initiated by Marine Projects, Transport Canada, Marine Safety and Security, specific to the ongoing Technical Review Process of Marine Terminal Systems and Trans-shipment Sites (TERMPOL) reviews, documenting lessons learned has been identified as a critical component of the continuous improvement initiative. TyPlan was retained to undertake a "lessons learned review" of the TERMPOL process, specifically noting experiences with the Trans Mountain TERMPOL review.
The lessons learned identified in the review will help existing and future project teams better understand the causes of problems and avoid them in later project stages or future projects. Data for the report was gathered by surveying the Marine Safety staff project team, and interviewing three (3) key stakeholders.
The objective of the report was to gather relevant information for better planning for future projects, improving implementation of new projects, avoiding issues and minimizing risks. The key lessons learned are presented as Critical Success Factors (CSFs) at the conclusion of the report. Interest in the report findings should be directed to Marine Projects Transport Canada.
